About the Artist
Born 1964, Melbourne, Australia
Lives Chittering Western Australia
Roseanne, a Western Australian artist, breathes in the essence of her most cherished natural environments – bushland and coast – and reshapes them through her abstract artistry. Her work is a profound reflection of her sensory experiences, capturing an authentic vision and an intuitive connection to the land. Through impulsive mark-making and a fusion of real, imagined, and remembered landscapes, Roseanne creates vibrant abstract pieces that resonate with the raw beauty and emotional depth of her surroundings.
Each artwork is a testament to her unique ability to translate the heart of Western Australia’s diverse landscapes into evocative visual expressions.
After many years of artistic dedication, Roseanne is now showcasing her expressive abstract landscapes. Her interpretations of the landscape evolve over time; often inspired by walks through bush trails, or coastal regions, or drives around Chittering and the southwest of Western Australia. She gathers insights and emotions which shape her studio work. In the studio, the distance from the physical landscape allows her to explore these impressions in more abstract terms.
By capturing the intrinsic character of these places through a contemporary abstract lens, Roseanne creates paintings that develop with both spontaneity and intentional design.
This approach not only lets her revel in the tactile joy of working with oils but also enables her to craft a unique visual language in response to the landscapes she loves.
